The Fusion Project

Posted by In .

The Fusion Project provides performance arts workshops to help people learn new things and improve their chances of finding work. The free dance, rap and poetry workshops are there to give young people the kinds of opportunities they don’t have in their local area and something new and creative to concentrate their efforts on.

Asha Pindoria, 20, set up The Fusion Project and also teaches the dance classes. She says, “Many of the people at the classes didn’t know there were college courses available in dance. And they’d never thought of it as a career option.”

Those who go to the rap workshops get the chance to record tracks and leave with a CD of their own at the end. These people have now been given a year’s free membership at the Camden Roundhouse letting them record complete albums free of charge.

An important part of the project is that people leave with a finished product or are part of a final performance. Asha also runs a company which organises events, and some of the performers from her workshops have ended up with paid work through this company.

Now that the project is underway, Asha is looking to the future. She would like to have a studio of her own for the project, and she would also like to offer a greater variety of courses. As well as this she is now also exploring how she could create structured AQA courses so that people could earn qualifications while taking part in the workshops.
