“It’s very hard for people to walk out of a Run Dem Crew session without a smile on their face.”
“Running has given me a life I want to live,” says Nathaniel, “A life that consists of a story that I would want to be told one day.” In a few short years Nathaniel has gone from someone giving running a go to being in charge of his own running crew. He says, “Once that running bug really gets a firm grip on you, I do think it’s extremely hard to flick it off.”
After running on his own for two years, he heard about Run Dem Crew and Run Dem Crew Youngers. He went along to run with them one evening, and he was soon hooked on the idea of running as part of this crew, “It’s a lot better running alongside someone than when by yourself, you can motivate and push each other on.”
He has been running with the crew ever since, and he recently decided to become part of the movement to get young people managing crews of their own and develop Run Dem Crew further. He has been supported by Live UnLtd so that he can set everything up, “What I really want to achieve with the crew is to give people a better path to their life. And let them know that they are totally in charge of what they do. And I just want to give people that fearlessness because not a lot of young people have that.”
“I love Run Dem Crew. Not just for what it does for me but for how it helps people week in, week out. It’s very hard for people to walk out of a Run Dem Crew session without a smile on their face,” and he wants to create the same feeling in his own crew, encouraging people to get involved and enjoying running as much as he does, “all you need for running is just your trainers and yourself.”
