Some people are worried that there is a split growing...
Read MoreChris Hampton is 19 and started Autism Don’t Panic in summer 2011. After being diagnosed in the first year of secondary school, Chris wanted to help other young people who might be feeling isolated because of Autism, and to promote better understanding of Autism and the Autistic Spectrum, so Live gave him an Award to help.
It began with autismdontpanic.co.uk which contains useful information and advice as well as explanations of various conditions including Autism, Aspergers, Tourettes, ADD, OCD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. The website is an invaluable tool for friends, family, teachers, or anyone affected by these conditions. Chris has now extended his project to include a social group for parents and children with conditions on the Autistic Spectrum, offering them a place to meet other people and get support.
In September 2011 Chris was shortlisted for a UK Youth Hearing Unheard Voices Award for the Most Youth-led Initiative. Chris attended the Awards at St. James’s Palace, along with Princess Anne, Nigel Mansell and Sway DaSafo and he won!
Autism Don’t panic can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
