Read MoreWe all know that being greener will make for a happier planet. But how should we do that? It can get confusing and sometimes overwhelming.
Some people wonder how one person can make a difference. However, doing your bit to save the planet can start very close to home. As we’ve found out, there are loads of ways to make a difference…
Sam Harris (pictured below) set up Pedal Power Transport, a network of environmentally-friendly ways of delivering things (and people!) around Bristol.
Sam was studying in Bristol, and after seeing the amount of congestion and traffic around his city he thought he could start a cheaper, pollution-free delivery service that could employ the number of students that are already cycling around the city on a daily basis anyway. Companies who pay Sam to courier items around town are reducing the amount of pollution they create, too.
We backed Sam to get his project started. You can find out more here.

Our menus and cuisines are truly global these days – we enjoy foods from all over the world. But do you know, or have you ever wondered, where the food you eat actually comes from?
UK shoppers regularly buy organic products to ensure what they eat and feed their family with food that contains fewer or no traces of pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals.
And some people have decided it’s all about buying local. One family even decided they would only eat locally-produced food – they called their project the Fife Diet (named after where they live), which began as a bit of an experiment and became a movement.
Across the country there has been an increase in the demand for locally-produced, quality foods, which has seen farmers’ markets sprouting up in towns and cities. Private allotments remain popular, and community gardens – like Whitehawk in Brighton – bring people together to convert wasteland into productive green spaces.
This video argues that buying local food is also a way of helping your local economy.

What if things are getting in your way of making the world a greener place? That didn’t stop this group of guerilla gardeners.
These guys started planting gardens in their area under the cover of darkness. People would go to sleep without a garden outside their homes, and they would wake up to find a garden there!

Has that inspired you to get thinking about ways you could change your world? Find out how we could back you to start a project of your own.
