Some people are worried that there is a split growing...
Read MoreAs people become more aware of the responsibility we have to preserve the planet, more words like recycling, repurposing and upcycling creep into our language. While there are slight differences between them, they all share something in common – stopping something from just being chucked in a landfill.
We thought we’d take a look at some of the ways people are recycling, and how they’re using it to do some pretty smart things at the same time.
Fingers Lake ReUse do two things at once. They provide a recycling service to the local area, but they also provide jobs and work experience for people in the process.
Items are collected in a warehouse where they are refurbished and given a price. They are then distributed and sold elsewhere. Find out more here.
Recycling isn’t always about turning old plastic into new plastic bottles, or scrap paper into notebooks, sometimes it’s about creating something totally different.
Seo Young Deok repurposes things to create art. Take a look at his bike chain art below and see more here.
This vending machine gives you a chance to donate things you don’t want any more, and you can pick up something new at the same time!

What if you had a pencil that was more than just a pencil? When you’ve used up Sprout, rather than throw it away, you can plant it.
Inside the end of Sprout is a seed. And you just add water to help it grow. Sprout received all of the funding it needed through its Kickstarter campaign. You can find out more here.
This old car was repurposed to look like a tank, store books, and make its way around town providing them for free to passersby. The ultimate in repurposing! Take a look at the transformation here.
Can you think of a smart way to recycle, repurpose, or upcycle things? We could back your project to help you make it happen. Find out more by clicking below.
