At Live UnLtd we love to share things about people who are changing their world. You can change your world by taking on issues in your local community, or by taking on some of the world’s larger issues like famine.
This week we want to talk about the people out there who are trying to make a difference by tackling this issue head on.
Some people see issues like this as too big to take on, but trying to make small changes can be a contribution to solving the larger issue.
What do you think are the biggest causes of famine? And do you ever think about how it could be helped?
Take a look at this TED Talk from Josette Sheeran. She says, “Food is one issue that cannot be solved person by person. We have to stand together.”
These are the current goals UNICEF has by 2015 to try and help eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. One of which is “Reduce by half the proportion of people living on less than a dollar a day.”
This recent report from The Week suggests that recent extreme weather in several parts of the world could lead to further famine and a push in food prices.
This infographic shows how some nations are trying to help this issue. It shows the countries that aren’t giving as much aid as they promise, and the countries that are giving more. Here in the UK we’re doing a great job by giving well above the amount we promise!
Tomorrow we’ll be looking at extreme hunger a little closer to home.
