Amazing Runners, Good Apps, and Are You Sharing Too Much?

We love sharing stuff at Live UnLtd about people who are changing their world for the better. Just in case you missed anything this week, here’s a round-up of just some of the things we were talking about.

5 Inspiring Running Stories

We work with the Run Dem Crew Youngers to help people set up running crews in their area, so we thought we’d take a look at some of the great running stories from the past and present. You can see the full list here.

Right now Tom Denniss is trying to break a world record by running around the whole world in 700 days.

You can follow his progress on his blog, Tom’s Next Step, here.

We also shared the story of James McLeod, a Run Dem Crew Youngers crew leader for his local area.

The Run Dem Crew Youngers project gives you the tools to change lives through sport and creativity. Find out more by heading to our Run Dem Crew Youngers page, or you can see what the Youngers are up to by heading to their Facebook Page, following their Tumblr or keeping your eye on the #RDCYoungers hashtag on Twitter.

To find out more about projects like James’ that we’ve backed you can go to our projects page, or check out our new map to see what projects have been started in your area.

Apps Making The World Better

We shared some apps we found that are making a change in the world. You can see a full run-down of the apps we shared here.

Recycling Food  is a ‘food recovery’ app allowing restaurants and caterers to tell charities nearby that they have leftover food that would otherwise be thrown in the bin.

Apps For Good is an award-winning course where young people learn to create imaginative mobile apps.

Do you share too much online?

We talked more technology when asking whether you think people share too much about themselves online. And we started a poll about whether you think we’re becoming addicted to technology here. Let us know what you think. Here’s an infographic about what people share online.

Businesses should better prepare students for workplace

Far too many young people do not have any contact with employers and therefore are likely to be totally unprepared for the world of work, according to a government-commissioned report. See our news story here.
