Teaching the teachers, reaching the students
Harley Sanders is a 17-year-old DJ, music producer and Live UnLtd Award Winner from Stafford whose project offers a design service as well as a refreshing approach to teaching music and engaging with young people, both inside and outside of the classroom. Fact of the week
90% of Award Winners form new friendships as a result of running a project.
Our research into the effects on Award Winners of running their projects shows that in addition to making new friends, 72% of Award Winners felt a reduced sense of isolation, and 60% felt an increased local pride.
Importantly, all of them experience an increase in their self-confidence. It seems that running a Live UnLtd-backed project can help you as much as your project helps others.

UK government aims to improve funding for social enterprise
The government is considering launching two new funds to support social enterprise in the next year, according to a report published yesterday by the Cabinet Office. Read more
Phone app tackles child labour in Columbia
We thought this was a great example of technology being used to do good. Kid Rescue, a mobile phone app from Columbia’s equivalent of BT, Telefónica Telecom, allows users to report incidences of those under 18 being made to work illegally.
According to the Colombian government, some 9.2 percent of 5 to 17-year-olds were classed as ‘working’ in the country. According to Kid Rescue the number of uneducated children there has reached 1.6 million. Since launching over 1,000 working children have been identified and more than 60 have been taken off the streets.
Can new generation permanently change businesses?
“My interactions with young professionals around the globe, as well as our own research, tell me there is something larger at work, and that business leaders need to pay attention,” says Barry Salzberg, global CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd. He believes that companies and the way they do business will change as a result of more socially-aware generations who aren’t driven solely by money. Read the Forbes article
